Question
How to handle a child’s fear of dogs?
Answer
Hello, I’m not sure how old your little one is. If they are quite young, some guidance should suffice. For instance, you could get a gentle puppy and raise it for a while, allowing your child to take care of it. Puppies are lively and have little harm potential, making it a good starting point. If the child has developed cognitive abilities, it’s recommended to ask them why they are afraid. For younger children, if the fear is not severe, talking to them properly, taking advantage of their dependence and trust in their parents, might be more effective than seeing a doctor. If the child is in middle school or the fear is very severe, it’s suggested to seek psychological counseling and not directly intervene to solve the problem.
