Question
My daughter has developmental dysplasia in both hips. She was 10 months old when she underwent double muscle plane incision and cast fixation. Two and a half months later, the cast was removed, and the X-ray showed 22 degrees in the left hip and 20 degrees in the right hip. The doctor said that the development is good, and later used a brace to fix it almost at 180 degrees. It has been a month now. The child often sits at 180 degrees on the bed, sometimes sits on a small stool and uses force to stand up from the ground, or when held, tries to use her legs to push back with force, and both feet are at 180 degrees backward. I don’t know if this will affect the recovery, should I encourage her to stand?
Answer
For babies with congenital hip dislocation and developmental dysplasia of the hip, daily care is very important. In addition to timely treatment, attention should be paid to rest and nutrition to reduce the chance of illness.
