Question

When children eat or hold things, their hands tremble slightly, more noticeable when they are dangling in the air. They have previously had an EEG, which was normal, and an MRI of the brain, considering the incomplete septum pellucidum and the 5th ventricle.

Answer

The hand tremors in children may be caused by abnormal discharge of brain nerves or hyperthyroidism. Since the child may have an incomplete septum pellucidum, this could be related. It is recommended to undergo early surgical treatment and to have blood tests for T3, T4, and TSH levels to rule out the possibility of hyperthyroidism.
