Question
My baby, who is two months old, often coughs up milk while breastfeeding, leading to a stuffy nose with a honking sound and phlegm stuck inside. I don’t know what to do.
Answer
- Have the baby sit or lie on their stomach. The parent should gently press the upper end of the nasolabial groove with the thumb and index finger, applying pressure for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Gently press on the Hegu point for 1 minute.
- Use the thumb pad to rub from the sides of the bridge of the nose downwards until a regional heating sensation is felt.
- Massage the Hegu point for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Have the baby sit, and the parent should support the baby’s forehead with one hand while using the thumb and index finger of the other hand to knead the Double Wind Pool points for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Have the baby lie on their back, and the parent should use one palm to rub across the back until the skin feels warm.
