Question

How can I improve my baby’s crying milk? My baby is 31 days old and has recently been refusing to feed properly and is not sleeping soundly. She vomited yesterday. Is this a problem? Should I be worried? I would like to ask doctors for their answers. I haven’t had a cold or diarrhea recently. It was only four days ago that something scared her; could that affect her appetite? Parents are anxious, thank you.

Answer

Infants are prone to nausea and vomiting due to underdeveloped gastroesophageal sphincter function under certain stimulating factors, which is related to feeding. Causes can include feeding too quickly, insufficient or excessive milk amounts, frequent changes in formula, introducing solid foods too early, crying for extended periods before feeding, swallowing large amounts of air during feeding, not burping after feeding, or significant changes in position after feeding such as changing diapers.
