Question
My child has been frequently catching colds, and today the coughing has worsened. What should I do?
Answer
The child has had a cold with coughing since October 6th. After the cold has improved, the coughing persists. In the morning, the coughing is noticeable, with 2 to 3 coughs every few minutes or up to ten minutes, and then once every hour during the day. The coughing becomes more severe after 3 or 4 PM, and there is no coughing after sleeping. There is a small amount of phlegm, and during this period, the child has had three colds. The coughing has been persistent, with the cold exacerbating it. In the past, the child would occasionally cough, but it was not severe. The child would sweat more on the back during the first half of the night after falling asleep. The child has been seen at both a children’s hospital and affiliated second hospital. Most cases of children’s colds and coughs are caused by catching a cold, with infections in the throat or lungs. Treatment can include children’s paracetamol yellow amine capsules, ceftriaxone, and children’s cough syrup. It is also better to add antipyretic and detoxifying medicine for treating the cold. In addition, it is advisable to feed the child with light and bland food during treatment.
