Question
How to properly handle frequent nosebleeds in children?
Answer
Regional factors such as nasal or sinus inflammation, nasal septum deviation, trauma, tumors, or the habit of picking the nose can all lead to nosebleeds. Systemic factors like febrile diseases, hypertension, heart disease, blood diseases, chronic liver and kidney diseases, malnutrition, or endocrine disorders may also trigger nosebleeds. It is advised to remain calm, avoid picking the nose, and if the bleeding is minor, apply pressure with a cotton ball to the nostrils for 5-10 minutes. Additionally, a cold compress on the nose and forehead can be applied. If the bleeding persists or occurs frequently, seek medical attention promptly.
