Question

How is a neonatal brain ultrasound performed one week after birth?

Answer

The ultrasound shows small patchy hyperechoic areas in the bilateral caudate nucleus heads with clear borders. The bilateral ventricles are symmetrical, with normal sizes. The bilateral choroid plexuses have a regular shape. The white matter echo in the anterior and posterior angles of the bilateral ventricles is still slightly strong and uneven. No obvious abnormalities were found in other structures such as the bilateral thalamus, basal ganglia, and cerebellum.Brain blood flow and all parameters are within the normal range.
