The reasons for baby spitting up may include structural issues with the stomach, such as the baby’s stomach being in a horizontal position, with a flat fundus, making it easy for contents to overflow. Additionally, the baby’s stomach capacity is relatively small, and the muscles and nerves in the stomach wall are not yet fully developed, resulting in lower muscle tone. These factors can contribute to spitting up. Improper feeding methods, such as overfeeding or not filling the bottle or nipple with milk completely, can also lead to the baby swallowing a large amount of air and subsequently spitting up.
