Question

How to solve the problem of postoperative urethral fissure in children? Was the surgery successful?

Answer

Don’t panic if you experience a recurrence of urethral fissure; some cases can be cured. Especially for fissures around the base of the penis, where the tissue is rich, it’s quite the opposite for those at the coronal groove, as the tissue there is very thin and the fissure is not likely to heal on its own. For small fissures, particularly those at the root of the penis, measures such as sitting in a bath, applying cod liver oil topically, protecting the fissure, and preventing urethral stricture can be taken. If there is no healing after 1 to 2 months of persistence, it is basically impossible to cure, and a revision surgery will be needed a year later.
