Question
What are the symptoms of congenital preauricular fistula?
Answer
When not inflamed, preauricular fistulas may not present with any obvious symptoms. However, upon bacterial infection, they may exhibit regional redness, swelling, heat, and pain, even leading to the formation of abscesses. Patients might experience discomfort, pain, or slight secretion in the ear. If infections recur frequently, surgical treatment may be necessary to eliminate the focus of infection.
