The main causes of hydrocephalus include the following three points:
- Infection: Such as various viral, protozoal, and syphilis spirochete meningitis that are not suppressed in time, which may lead to obstruction of the cerebrospinal fluid circulation.
- Congenital malformations: For example, narrow aqueduct of the midbrain, diaphragm formation or auto-lock, and interventricular foramen auto-lock deformity, etc., which can affect the normal circulation of cerebrospinal fluid.
- Tumors: Tumors may block any part of the cerebrospinal fluid circulation, commonly found near the fifth ventricle or choroid plexus papilloma.
