Question
Can pediatric nephritic syndrome be cured?
Answer
Nephritic syndrome refers to a complex of kidney glomerular inflammation caused by various etiologies, characterized primarily by symptoms such as large amounts of proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, severe edema, and hyperlipidemia. The kidney glomeruli have increased permeability and reduced filtration rate. The filtration membrane of the kidney glomeruli is composed of the endothelial layer of capillaries, basement membrane, and the epithelial layer of the renal capsule. This filtration membrane acts as a barrier to protein excretion. When nephritic syndrome occurs, this barrier is damaged, leading to increased protein filtration and subsequent proteinuria.
