Question

Can vision be fully restored after severe vision loss caused by ocular trauma, including hemorrhage and edema of the retina, with normal macula?

Answer

Early suturing of the wound and removal or repositioning of prolapsed uveal tissue should be performed after ocular trauma to prevent infection, which may help prevent this condition. Generally, when this condition is discovered, treatment methods for uveitis should be used. For less severe cases, immunosuppressive drugs may be chosen. Most cases can recover some vision after treatment, but measures to remove the inducing eye often cannot stop the progression of the disease. Some inducing eyes may recover some vision after treatment.
