Question

Is it possible for osteomylitis to appear here? It was the same spot two years ago, and the pain was in the round bone on the sole of my left foot. On the first day, there was a bit of pain, and I hobbled off work. By the third day, it was extremely painful, slightly swollen, but not red. By the fourth day, it had slowly improved. During this time, I felt pain standing or sitting, and it hurt when my foot was lowered, but not when lying flat. I slept well during my afternoon nap. Now, more than ten days later, I am no longer swollen and can walk and run. However, occasionally if I sit for too long in that position, it gets a bit swollen and painful. Walking a few steps and exercising eases it. Now, when I press on that bone or apply force to it, there is some pain. After playing sports, I feel the bone ache more obvious. Several doctors have said it’s tendinitis, but I can confidently say that the pain is specifically in that bone, not from tendons or muscles.

Answer

Hello, based on the medical information you have provided and your clinical diagnosis description, your condition indeed appears to match the characteristics of plantar fasciitis pain. Plantar fasciitis refers to pain caused by aseptic inflammation at the junction of the tendons with the bone you mentioned. This pain point is located at the connection between the tendons and the bone but the main issue lies with the tendons or ligaments rather than the bone itself.
