Question

What are the initial symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease?

Answer

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is an intestinal viral disease with an incubation period of 3-7 days. The majority of patients experience sudden onset. It primarily affects the hands, feet, mouth, and buttocks. It has four characteristics: no pain, no itching, no scabbing, and no scarring. In the initial stages, there may be mild upper extremity symptoms. Due to the pain from oral ulcers, children may drool excessively and refuse to defecate. Granular yellowish macules or blisters with a red halo are mainly arranged on the tongue and cheeks, hands, feet, or flat or raised yellow macules or vesicles.
