Question

My child is around 5 years old and has been complaining of leg pain recently, for no apparent reason. How should we handle osteomyelitis? What are the possible consequences?

Answer

If osteomyelitis occurs in the knee, it primarily leads to severe pain, especially when climbing stairs or descending. At this point, it is advisable to avoid running or walking, rest as much as possible, and use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers. If not treated appropriately, it may affect future mobility, lead to abnormal gait, and in severe cases, may require amputation surgery.
