Question

Why is it that my child has been so disobedient lately, crying and fussing non-stop? We’ve taken them to the hospital for checks, but there hasn’t been any improvement. Could you please explain the patterns of fever in pediatric leukemia?

Answer

Leukemia is characterized by symptoms such as anemia, fever, joint pain, and skin damage. Most patients experience fever as one of the first symptoms, with some developing high fever, temperatures exceeding 39 to 40 degrees Celsius, accompanied by chills and sweating. There is no fixed pattern to the fever; regardless of the cause of the fever, physical measures to lower the temperature should be taken first, along with the administration of immunomodulators or radiation therapy and chemotherapy treatments.
