Question
I am 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my second child. The 4D ultrasound shows a bright spot in the fetal left ventricle, but the heart structure is normal. The previous NT scan was normal, and no Down syndrome screening was done. Can we predict the fetal chromosomal condition based on the NT and 4D ultrasound results?
Answer
The NT scan and 4D ultrasound are mainly used to screen and diagnose fetal structural abnormalities and cannot directly detect chromosomal conditions. A bright spot in the fetal left ventricle is a common ultrasound finding and usually does not indicate a chromosomal abnormality. It is recommended to undergo amniocentesis or non-invasive prenatal testing to assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.
