Question
My child is over 5 years old. Since returning from kindergarten today, I’ve noticed some small red spots on their hands. After taking off their shoes, I saw similar spots on their feet. I suspect my child may have Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. I would like to inquire about how long it takes to check for the disease at the Disease Control Center?
Answer
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease can usually be diagnosed quickly by a qualified physician. The main role of the Disease Control Center is to collect and analyze data from various hospitals. If your child is diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, they should be immediately sent to a regular hospital for treatment and allowed to rest sufficiently. When they have a fever, they should drink plenty of warm water to stay hydrated. Their diet should be light and easy to digest. If your child experiences severe mouth pain, low-temperature foods should be provided. In case of severe constipation, hospital intravenous fluid therapy may be necessary to meet their body’s energy needs.
