Question
How is vitamin D-dependent rickets treated?
Answer
Vitamin D-dependent rickets often presents with recurrent bone inflammation around the age of 18, with the “O” shape of the legs being the earliest symptom to attract attention. However, mild cases are often overlooked. Patients usually have normal height, but some may be short-statured. In severe cases, around the age of 6, the typical symptoms of rickets may appear, such as severe skeletal deformities, dwarfism, and severe bone pain. Some children may be unable to walk due to bone pain.
