Patients with Down Syndrome are typically diagnosed at birth, and early intervention is preferable for these children. As the age of the pregnant woman increases, the likelihood of giving birth to a child with Down Syndrome also increases. If screening tests indicate a higher risk of the fetus having Down Syndrome, further diagnostic tests should be conducted, such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling.
