Question

What’s causing the redness on my baby’s testicles? Is the redness also on the middle line of the testicle?

Answer

The redness on a baby’s testicles could be due to diaper dermatitis, often caused by not changing diapers in time, leading to the decomposition of fluids in the diaper which produces ammonia-like substances that irritate the skin. It is recommended to change diapers frequently, maintain dry and clean conditions in the affected area, and use non-irritating talcum powder. Also, ensure that the baby’s clothing and bedding are not too tight, and keep the room temperature moderate to reduce skin irritation from dampness and heat. If there is inflammation of the skin, avoid washing with hot water or soap, as this may exacerbate the condition. Mild diaper dermatitis usually heals within 2 to 3 days, but if more severe symptoms such as skin ulceration appear, seek medical attention promptly.
