Question

How is neonatal pneumonia treated?

Answer

Mild infections can be treated with oral antibiotics. For coughing or phlegm, fresh bamboo decoction or pediatric honey granules can be taken. In severe cases, intravenous fluid therapy is recommended. One must also be vigilant about mycoplasma infections that can cause pneumonia. If diagnosed with mycoplasma infection, it is suggested to use erythromycin injection or oral azithromycin dry suspension for treatment. Rest is important, and antipyretics should be used symptomatically if fever occurs.
