Question

Can congenital amblyopia be treated?

Answer

The younger the age at which amblyopia is treated, the better the outcome. The best treatment period begins from 1 to 2 years old, and amblyopia before the age of 6 is generally more easily cured to over 1.0 vision. For difficult-to-treat amblyopia, if treatment begins after the age of 6, it is difficult to achieve a vision of over 1.0. Amblyopia in individuals over the age of 12 is generally considered to be basically ineffective.
