Question
Recently, a couple had a child with cerebral palsy, and I’m worried that I might encounter the same situation. I want to know how to prevent neonatal cerebral palsy.
Answer
Firstly, pregnant women should undergo early prenatal examinations and maintain proper perinatal care to prevent congenital diseases in the fetus. Additionally, pregnant women should quit bad habits such as smoking, drinking, and avoid excessive use of anesthetics, sedatives, and other medications. If there is a history of unexplained miscarriage, preterm labor, stillbirth, or neonatal death, or if both families have relevant genetic histories, special attention should be paid. If fetal abnormalities are detected early in pregnancy, an early termination of pregnancy should be considered.
