Question
Our child has been feeling sick and vomiting recently, and after vomiting, they also say their buttocks hurt, feeling hot and painful. Since the child is too young, we don’t want them to take medicine, so we’re wondering if there are any fruits that can be used as an alternative to medication. Could you please clarify this for us, doctor?
Answer
Your child’s current condition is not suitable for eating fruits, as most fruits contain rough fibers that can trigger nausea and vomiting after consumption. You can use food therapy instead, such as drinking congee made from glutinous rice or rice gruel, which can help alleviate diarrhea. Once the nausea and vomiting stop, the anal pain will naturally ease. If the nausea and vomiting are severe, it can easily lead to dehydration, so I suggest taking your child to the hospital for treatment. Don’t delay the illness because of a fear of taking medicine.
