Question
My child is around 5 years old and has been complaining of leg pain recently. What are the symptoms of a mandibular fracture?
Answer
Teeth Misalignment: The occlusion of the upper and lower teeth often becomes misaligned due to the displacement of the fractured segments in the mandible, which is the most obvious symptom of a mandibular fracture and holds significant importance for diagnosing a mandibular fracture. In cases of transverse fractures of the maxilla, the fractured segments may displace downward, causing premature contact between the posterior teeth of the maxilla and the mandible, resulting in an open bite. In cases of mandibular fractures, misalignment of the teeth’s occlusion usually occurs due to the displacement of the fractured segments. If there is no displacement of the fractured segments, there will be no obvious misalignment in the teeth’s occlusion.
