Question

What are the symptoms of pediatric kidney disease?

Answer

Kidney diseases have many types, and the symptoms vary from one type to another. However, all kidney disease patients will experience a decrease in glomerular filtration rate, leading to the accumulation of metabolic products in the body, causing water, electrolyte, and acid-base imbalances as well as systemic organ damage. This can be accurately described as: lack of energy, dry mouth and throat, decreased appetite, increased frequency of urination, urgency, pain during urination, and even hematuria and asymptomatic purulent urine. These symptoms may also be accompanied by joint pain.
