Question

What causes pediatric facial palsy?

Answer

The causes of pediatric facial palsy are very complex, primarily including the following reasons: one is facial neuritis caused by viral or bacterial infections; two is trauma, which can include temporal bone fractures, as well as many newborns who may be related to birth canal injuries; three is tumors, such as the common facial neurilemmoma or facial fibroma in children; and four is congenital developmental abnormalities, mainly caused by the herpes zoster virus, characterized by the appearance of blisters on one side of the facial palsy patient’s earlobe.
