Question

What causes hand, foot, and mouth disease?

Answer

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is caused by enteroviruses, mainly transmitted through close contact with patients, such as contact with their feces, saliva, or fluid from skin rashes, or through droplet transmission. Most children with hand, foot, and mouth disease have mild symptoms, usually experiencing a sudden fever, headache, cough, and runny nose, followed by blisters appearing in the mouth and on the hands. Early detection and treatment can prevent the disease from worsening and cure it.
