Question

I keep sweating profusely and feeling dizzy. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. I would like to ask what the cell morphology of neuroblastoma is?

Answer

Neuroblastoma, also known as neurocytoma, is a cancer that recurs at the branching points of nerves. Since nerve endings are arranged in many parts of the body, this type of tumor can appear in many different parts of the body. Approximately 65% originate in the abdomen, 15% to 20% in the chest, and the remaining 15% in various other locations such as the neck and pelvis. Neuroblastoma is a highly malignant tumor, often multifocal, and can early on affect surrounding tissues. These tumors are primarily treated with a so-called composite therapy, which includes chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy to achieve treatment goals. Even for patients at high risk during this stage, some may first present with disseminated symptoms, such as spreading subcutaneous nodules or liver enlargement due to liver metastasis.
