Question

When can a child with pneumonia be discharged?

Answer

Pneumonia in children is generally caused by viral or bacterial infections, and most children will exhibit symptoms such as fever, coughing, and expectoration. If the baby does not improve after taking oral medication, hospitalization for intravenous treatment is required. Once the baby no longer has symptoms like fever, coughing, and expectoration, and the results of blood tests and chest X-rays are normal, they can be discharged. Generally, the hospital stay is about 7 days, but for more severe cases, the duration of hospitalization may be longer.
