Question

Jaundice in newborns can turn a baby yellow, and it appears in which parts of the body? My child seems to have jaundice; where does jaundice usually appear? Can it disappear completely on its own?

Answer

Neonatal jaundice typically appears in a baby’s eyes, face, and neck. Physiological jaundice can resolve on its own within 2-3 days and usually only affects the skin and whites of the eyes. However, some premature infants’ physiological jaundice may last until the fourth week.
