Question
What are the symptoms of pediatric hydrocephalus?
Answer
Hydrocephalus can be categorized into two types: congenital and acquired, and it can be further divided into communicating and non-communicating hydrocephalus. Non-communicating hydrocephalus involves blockages within the ventricular system; while communicating hydrocephalus involves blockages in the subarachnoid space. Hydrocephalus is a condition caused by brain diseases leading to excessive production or (and) obstruction in circulation and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in an increase in cerebrospinal fluid volume, leading to expansion of the ventricular system or (and) the subarachnoid space.
