Question

Does cerebral infarction cause facial paralysis?

Answer

Cerebral infarction is primarily caused by arteriosclerosis and thrombosis of the blood vessels supplying the brain, which narrows or blocks the vessel lumen, leading to acute regional brain dysfunction. It may also result from foreign objects (solid, liquid, gas) entering the cerebral or carotid arteries that supply blood to the brain, causing prolonged blood flow time and resulting in obstruction of blood flow or sudden increase in blood flow, leading to softening and necrosis of extra-dominant brain tissue.
