Question

I am a patient with facial paralysis, and having crooked lips and eyes makes me extremely uncomfortable when looking at things. I don’t know what to do, and every time I go out, people give me strange looks, making me feel awkward. Acupuncture at the hospital has also been ineffective. How should I treat facial paralysis to recover completely quickly?

Answer

About 80% of patients with peripheral facial paralysis can fully recover within a few weeks or one to two months. Incomplete facial paralysis can recover or heal within 1 to 2 months. Complete facial paralysis patients may take 2 to 8 months or even up to a year to fully recover, and may leave sequelae. Young patients generally have a better prognosis. Elderly patients and those with diabetes or hypertension tend to have poorer prognoses. Wishing the patient a speedy recovery!
