Question

Is facial paralysis the same as a stroke?

Answer

Facial paralysis is an inflammatory disease of the facial nerve, typically caused by viral infection or exposure to cold on the face, characterized by weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles. Stroke, however, is brain damage resulting from the blockage or rupture of cerebral blood vessels, often accompanied by severe headaches, blurred vision, and limb weakness. Although both conditions can cause facial symptoms, their underlying causes and treatment approaches are entirely different.
