Question
What are the symptoms of facial paralysis?
Answer
Facial neuritis presents with paralysis of all facial expressions on one side. Pay attention to the following two situations: one is drooping of the upper eyelid on one side, which may indicate that a mild case of facial neuritis could be myasthenia gravis ophthalmoparesis; the other is crooked mouth corners, inability to furrow the brows, and inability to close the eyelids on one side, without accompanying limb paralysis or aphasia. In this case, be aware of the possibility of central facial paralysis caused by cerebral infarction.
