Question

Does facial paralysis require blood tests?

Answer

Facial paralysis can sometimes be caused by other organic diseases, such as parotid tumors and tumors around the brainstem that control the facial nerve. The symptoms of facial paralysis in these cases are very similar to those of idiopathic facial paralysis, which typically does not require blood tests or other additional examinations. However, in some cases, blood tests and head CT scans may help rule out potential organic diseases to avoid misdiagnosis. Before starting treatment for facial paralysis symptoms, doctors may recommend these tests.
