Question
Where should moxibustion be applied for facial nerve inflammation?
Answer
Facial palsy, also known as facial nerve paralysis, is usually caused by viral infections. During treatment, moxibustion should be applied to appropriate acupuncture points. Throughout the treatment process, maintain a safe distance between the moxa stick and the skin, and promptly remove the ash produced by the burning of the moxa stick to avoid burns. Not all Western doctors agree on the connection between facial palsy and colds, as both are caused by viral infections. Typically, the natural course of facial palsy lasts about two weeks, with most patients making a full recovery. However, a small number of patients may develop severe, refractory, or intractable facial palsy due to deeper viral invasion and weaker immune systems, leaving sequelae.
