Question
How to treat pediatric epilepsy seizures? How to perform first aid on a child having an epileptic seizure?
Answer
Epileptic patients may experience pre-seizure symptoms such as abnormal sensations, chest tightness, discomfort in the upper abdomen, fear, drooling, hearing loss, and blurred vision. Patients should return to a safe place before the seizure, such as away from dangerous areas like roads. First responders should quickly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and fire emergency aid, and find a safe place for the patient to sit or lie down. Before the onset of the seizure, the patient’s family should also cultivate the ability to observe the patient and establish early preventive measures to avoid other accidental injuries.
