Question

What is Nephrotic Syndrome?

Answer

Nephrotic syndrome is a group of clinical diagnostic symptoms caused by various different reasons, including chronic nephritis. Clinically, it presents with significant proteinuria, severe edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia. The goal of treatment is typically to alleviate severe edema and hypoalbuminemia. Patients should rest in bed, follow a low-salt diet, control fluid intake, and consume a high-protein diet. Western medical treatment usually includes the use of corticosteroids, diuretics, and immunosuppressants, but these treatment methods can also bring many side effects to the body.
