Question
What are the causes of facial paralysis?
Answer
Facial paralysis typically results from severe trauma, intracranial tumors, or vascular diseases. Other possible causes include otitis media, metabolic abnormalities in diabetes, alcoholism, and long-term exposure to toxins. Additionally, congenital maldevelopment of the facial nerve nucleus can also lead to facial paralysis. This condition can be treated with medication and supplemented with physical therapies such as massage or acupuncture. For cases where medication and physical therapy are ineffective, surgical treatment may be considered.
