Question

What is osteonecrosis of the femoral head? What are its causes?

Answer

The primary causes of osteonecrosis of the femoral head are threefold. The first is a traumatic cause, such as poor healing of a fracture leading to traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head; the second is hormonal use, long-term use of hormone drugs may lead to femoral head necrosis; the third is alcohol intake, individuals who frequently drink beer or take oral hormones are also prone to osteonecrosis of the femoral head. In addition to these main causes, there are some secondary causes, but they are not primary.
