Question

The newborn has a yellowish tint all over their body and their little face is also very yellow. What is the issue?

Answer

Neonatal jaundice typically begins to appear 2 to 3 days after birth, reaches its peak at around 7 days, and gradually subsides in about 14 days. A bilirubin level of 13.8 is slightly higher than the normal range but is still considered normal. It is recommended to observe the baby closely, regularly measure the bilirubin level, allow the baby to get adequate sunlight exposure, or undergo blue light therapy to accelerate the jaundice’s fading.
