Question
What harm can neonatal jaundice cause to a child’s health? What should we do if the jaundice does not improve?
Answer
It is recommended to undergo a detailed examination to determine whether the jaundice is physiological or pathological. If it is physiological jaundice, it usually subsides within about a week and no special treatment is needed. If it is pathological jaundice, a re-examination is required and it may need to be treated with phototherapy. In terms of diet, spicy or irritating food should be avoided.
