Question

How to treat persistent neonatal jaundice?

Answer

Neonatal jaundice typically appears within 2 to 3 days after birth and gradually subsides within 7 to 10 days, usually not exceeding two weeks. If the baby’s jaundice persists, it is advisable to promptly have the baby’s bilirubin levels tested at a hospital. If the index is below 12.9, medication treatment can be used under a doctor’s guidance, and blue light therapy may be considered if necessary. At the same time, attention should be paid to the baby’s proper feeding.
