Question
An elderly family member has been diagnosed with aseptic necrosis of the left femoral head. Could you please inquire about the treatment methods?
Answer
Femoral head necrosis is a chronic condition primarily caused by regional ischemia leading to bone softening and necrosis. Treatment options include medication and non-pharmacological therapies. Medication-wise, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs such as celecoxib can be used, along with medications that promote blood circulation and bone repair, such as Compound Danshen, Mai Zhi Ling, and Xian Ling Gu Bao. Non-pharmacological treatments include smoking cessation, avoiding overexertion, and heavy loads. In terms of medication, Huang Teng Su capsules and Tong Luo Kai Bi tablets can be used; the former is taken three times a day, two capsules each time, and the latter is taken twice a day, two tablets each time. Medication can be stopped once the pain symptoms are relieved. Additionally, other traditional Chinese patent medicines can be used to assist in treatment.
