My child is 2 years old and has been in good health. Today, I accidentally noticed red spots on my child’s face. Could it be hand, foot, and mouth disease? I haven’t noticed any redness or bumps on the palms or soles of the feet. The buttocks are a bit red, and there are no small bumps around it. I’m very worried, please doctor, reply to me quickly.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is primarily caused by enteroviruses, leading to rashes or blisters on the mouth, buttocks, and even the entire body, with or without fever. Given your baby’s current condition, hand, foot, and mouth disease is not considered; however, close observation of your baby’s mouth for any appearance of rashes and the presence of fever is necessary.
